Pastor Dumassais Constant first learned of the need for a church in Fortaleza, the neighboring town, when two fellow Haitians asked him to officiate their wedding. They told him about the believers there who were meeting together and the needs of the people.

Dumassais has been a Pastor and staff member of The Lily and The Sparrow since 2015, and he has a heart to disciple and raise up leaders within the Haitian community. He has felt God calling him to plant churches for the Haitian people since 2019, and this has been a confirmation of what God has been speaking to him for 2 years.

Fortaleza is a neighboring city to Pomerode, where our church, Restoration House, has been serving the Haitian community for 6 years. Pastor Dumassais has been making the 30 minute bus ride to Fortaleza for the past few months, discipling the core leadership team and preparing to launch our second church in Brazil, Restoration House Fortaleza.

As a core team, there are 35 people who are joining together to start this church with a commitment to seeing it grow and serve the community. This group of believers is focused on the mission of Restoration House, which is to win souls for Heaven, restore souls with the word of God, and comfort these souls by sharing the love of Jesus Christ. Most of the families in this congregation are separated from their children or spouses living in Haiti.

The primary need of the Haitian community in Brazil is that they would find good jobs, have the necessary paperwork approved, and be able to bring their family members from Haiti to Brazil. Having lived in Brazil since 2015 and brought their eldest daughter from Haiti, Pastors Dumassais and Renette have walked through the process together and seen God reunite and provide for their family, despite all odds. They are committed to working alongside their congregation and walking them through this process, seeing families reunited and restored.

As we partner with God and what He is doing in Brazil, Restoration House Pomerode and Restoration House Fortaleza will shine bright as a beacon of hope to all who find themselves displaced and far from home.
