Hey, everyone!

We are back from our week-long trip to Lima, Peru, and we could not be more excited to share with you about what God has done on this trip! We could probably sit down with you for a few hours and talk and talk and talk about all of the incredible things that happened both in and through our team…. as well as how much the Peruvian people impacted us and taught us about God’s love, but this post is just going to be a quick recap with some of our favorite photos from the trip! We have also linked the amazing ministries that we work with in Lima, so just click on the link for more info!

Day 1:

Our team went to Isaac Newton school and taught the students about human trafficking. We were also able to give all of the female students and staff a copy of the ¡Sí, Tú Sí Puedes! Devotion book! At noon, we met with a group of mothers who have children at Isaac Newton. We talked to them about identity in Christ, Raynie shared her testimony with them, and we also gave them each a devotional. At night, our team partnered with Buenas Nuevas church in San Juan de Lurigancho to have a women’s conference. Sam shared her testimony, and we gave out copies of the devotional to all of the women. There was a very special part at the end where each woman also took a book to give to a friend who was having a hard time. We prayed over the books that they would be a tool for God to accomplish His purpose in the lives of these women!

Day 2:

Our team did drama practice and worship practice, and then spent the afternoon picking up supplies to surprise one of our Venezuelan refugee families with. It’s winter time in Peru, so we got all of the things they needed to live comfortably in the cold… a hair dryer, dehumidifier, hot water heater, and dryer! Later, our team had supper at the Make A Miracle Study Center and shared about Toda Cadena with the students, inviting them to join the fight against human trafficking in their city. Colby shared his testimony about how God led him to study at Free Chapel College, and following God in faith even when it’s hard! Later that night, we had a movie night for the women and children at Pat’s Place women’s shelter.

Day 3:

Our team visited two Star Kids Clubs in different areas of San Juan de Lurigancho and performed the Frozen Skit, teaching the younger children about trafficking and how to spot warning signs, what to do if a friend is in a bad relationship, and also what healthy relationships and friendships look like. That night, we went back to Buenas Nuevas church for a youth conference where we shared about Toda Cadena with the youth and Colby shared his testimony.

Day 4:

Our team woke up early to grab coffee with one of our dear friends, Kat Compton! She and her husband are doing amazing things in Lima. Afterward, we went to Centro de Fuego church and Chris preached. Colby and Raynie led worship during the altar ministry and sang Reckless Love. They learned the chorus in Spanish, so it was very beautiful and special since Centro de Fuego is a bilingual church! We had lunch with a precious group of women who are out on parole in Lima and living for Jesus. Sam shared her story with them, and we also gave each of them a copy of the Yes, You Can Devotional (this time in English since it is an English Bible Study) and we did the first day of the Devotional together. The guys took the kids to the park and gave the girls and the moms some kid-free time, which was fun! That night, our team was back at Buenas Nuevas for a healing and miracle service. Chris preached the message, Jonathan shared his testimony, and many people were healed of physical pain.

Day 5:

On Monday, we took our team to Larcomar and the Inka Markets for our free day! We went shopping for items for the silent auction at our annual missions gala, and later met up with some of our local team members for Supper in Miraflores! It was a fun day for everyone!

Day 6:

We spent the day with our dear Otero family! We have a long history of ministry with this precious family. They were part of our ministry team who went out to the girls on the streets when we lived in Peru, and later we were able to partner with Make A Miracle to build a second floor onto their home. We love them so much! We spent the afternoon with them and were able to see all of the new things they had done to their home, as well as walk over to the presidential palace to see some sights! Later, our team met up with our Venezuelan refugee family in Real Plaza to get desserts and talk! We surprised them with the dryer and all of the new things after dessert, and it was so special! That night, we went back to Pat’s Place to pack our bags and head to the airport!

Day 7:

Our team landed in ATL at 9am Wednesday morning after an overnight flight, and we drove back to Jesup. Everyone wished that we could have stayed in Lima a little longer, and I’m pretty sure that they will all be back on another mission trip to Peru soon!

Thank you so much for praying for our trip and for supporting our short term missionaries financially! We could not have done this without YOU!
