OUR STORY
The Lily and The Sparrow is a Christian nonprofit that fights human trafficking in Peru and supports Haitian refugees in Brazil and Haiti. Our name comes from Matthew 6, where Jesus reminds us not to be anxious because God provides for the lilies of the field and the sparrows of the air—and how much more valuable are we to Him. That promise of provision is at the heart of our work: we trust God to provide and we extend His care to those most vulnerable.
Our mission is to empower people to transform their communities with the gospel. What makes us different is that we don’t just send help from the outside—we empower local leaders by giving them the training, resources, and support they need to change their own communities. Since 2014, we’ve planted churches, launched scholarship programs, and opened centers for human trafficking survivors that provide hope, safety, and the gospel.

Our Work in Each Country at a Glance
🇵🇪 Peru: Fighting Human Trafficking
- Prevention: Educating students and families to stop trafficking before it starts. We educate over 1,500 students each year.
- Survivor Care: Providing safe spaces, resources, and job support for women rebuilding their lives. Our Drop-In Center for Trafficking Survivors actively serves survivors weekly.
- Community Impact: Our Community Center in Carabayllo serves families through Bible classes, feeding programs, and school partnerships.
🇧🇷 Brazil: Supporting Haitian Refugees
- Church Planting: Partnered with Pastor Dumassais Constant to establish two Haitian-led churches (2015, 2021).
- Practical Care: Leaders provide translation, help families secure jobs, housing, and legal paperwork.
- Community Strength: Churches preserve Haitian culture and spiritual life while supporting families in transition.
🇭🇹 Haiti: Granting Scholarships
- Scholarships: Funding over 20 annual scholarships so children can attend school.
- Direct School Support: Paying schools directly to keep teachers employed and classrooms open.
- Impact: $100 covers a year of schooling in Haiti, where most families live on less than $1/day.
